  • Mood: grateful

The greatest moments in life are not concerned with self achievements but rather with the things we do for other people."

- Walt Disney

Hi all I just had a wierd thought in life. Summer is finally here. After all the soggy wet weird weather here in BC, the big yellow thing in the sky finally came out. Its been a long and wet spring, with the snow and rain. Now I hear people complaining that its too hot...Crap...make up yer mind. Me I love this weather.

But life is just weird. I mean 6 months ago I was looking at my cupboard and crying because I had nothing in it and at least a week to go til the food bank hamper. Now I have food in it and in my pantry. Im not boasting or bragging. It just makes you think thats how fast life changes. Here is my plug for today. Donate to your local food bank in the summer. Most of the business and non-profit groups give there major donations around christmas time. But the summer time is the worst time for alot of the food banks because they just cant stretch what they get thru the summer. I have one just down the street from me and alot of them come in here to the coffee shop I work at with tears in their eyes because they just cant give the families and children what they need because it is not there. Costco here in  BC has case lots of alphagetti and soups and macaroni for any where from 5 to 10 bucks. Get an extra one and give it to your local food bank. Even the no name stuff cost about the same as a Starbucks fancy coffee. Give up your coffee for the day and buy a case of soup. It's easy to stand in line, get your coffee and forget about the cost of that coffee, but its not so easy to forget the cost of soup and bread when your hear your child crying. I gave back what I could, now here is my challange for all of you, time to pay it forward. Insted of taking orders at the office for coffee, ask them would they be willing to give the money up to buy food for the local food bank.

In Canada to find your local food bank Canadian Association of Food Banks

In the US to find your local food Bank just type in your state and food banks to find one nearest you.

Take Care all.
